Football Recap: Hoover Patriots vs. Roosevelt Rough Riders
After flying high against Torres last Friday, Hoover came back down to earth. The Patriots fell 27-17 to the Roosevelt Rough Riders on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Rough Riders: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Hoover still got an impressive performance from Cam Mobley, who rushed for 110 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 177 yards on 13 of 26 attempts.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 11 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Caleb Marquez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Ehis Idoni was his usual excellent self, rushing for 238 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per carry for Roosevelt. Another player making a difference was Cj Barker, who rushed for 29 yards and one score.
Hoover now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Roosevelt, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
