Baseball Recap: Quaker Valley Wins Going Away Against Beaver Falls

Quaker Valley got themselves on the board against Beaver Falls on Wednesday, but Beaver Falls never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Quakers, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Oscar Roig was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Henry Zupanc was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kolton Johnson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Quaker Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Quaker Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Beaver Falls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Quaker Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Mohawk Area at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Beaver Falls, they will venture away from home to take on Western Beaver at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
