Baseball Recap: Cortez Colts vs. Yuma Criminals
Cortez extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-14. They came up short against the Yuma Criminals, falling 9-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Criminals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-0 on Monday.
As for Yuma, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-7-2. The result was nothing new for the Criminals, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
For Yuma's part, they got a great performance from Noah Jensen as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over 6.1 innings pitched. Jensen has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Landon Englebrecht, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Bouts, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
