Baseball Recap: Glasgow Comes Up Short

Glasgow extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-17-1 in the process. They fell 6-1 to the Barren County Trojans. The Scotties were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Glasgow saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah Driver, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Barren County, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

On Barren County's side, Skylar Potter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. Potter has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Coffey, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JP Hyde, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Glasgow will challenge Russell County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Barren County will be paying especially close attention to the Scotties' matchup: after the Scotties face off against the Lakers, they'll take on Barren County again at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
