A huge DMV showdown pits No. 21 Gonzaga and No. 25 St. John's to top this week's slate.

Video: Top 10 Games of the Week
Five of the games featured this week are playoff matchups.

Many states are either starting or in the middle of the postseason while the rest will begin next week.

Five of the 10 games selected are playoff games but the only Top 25 matchup is a regular-season finale in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference.

No. 25 St. John's (Washington, D.C.) hosts No. 21 Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.). The Cadets can claim the WCAC regular season title outright for the third consecutive year with a win while the Eagles earn a share with St. John's if they come out on top.

The Battle of Belt Line is one of the best rivalries in all of Texas and the series has been competitive during the MaxPreps era (since 2004). DeSoto has won eight of the previous 15 meetings but Cedar Hill won last year, 32-17.

Some notable playoff matchups this week include Carol City and Booker T. Washington in the opening round of the 4A Florida bracket. Mandarin (Jacksonville), the defending 8A Florida state champs, takes on an undefeated Seminole (Sanford) squad in the other Sunshine State game featured this week.

Postseason contests in California, Utah, and Alabama are also on tap to go with some regular season finales in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

Top Players

Gonzaga: QB Caleb Williams (6-1, 210), OL Luke Petitbon (6-3, 285), OL Olu Fashanu (6-5, 320), OL Jestus Johnson (6-3, 325), RB Malcolm Terry (5-9, 190)

St. John's: WR Rakim Jarrett (6-0, 210), LB Mekhail Sherman (6-3, 235), DL Tré Williams (6-2.5, 305), QB Sol-Jay Maiava (6-0, 190), DL Taizse Johnson (6-1, 290)

Top Players

DeSoto: WR Lawrence Arnold (6-3, 180), DE Shemar Turner (6-3, 260), CB Jabbar Muhammad (5-9, 165), DL Byron Murphy II (6-0, 275), QB Samari Collier (6-3, 210)

Cedar Hill: WR Quin Bright (5-8, 170), OL Courtland Ford (6-6, 305), QB Kaidon Salter (6-1, 180), RB Corie Allen (5-11, 185), WR Cameron Hutchings (6-1, 170)

When DeSoto and Cedar Hill lock horns it's always a big deal, especially when the district title is one the line. A Longhorns win gives them the district title outright and if the Eagles win they will share it. Cedar Hill started the season with back-to-back losses against No. 11 Allen (Texas) and Denton Guyer (Texas) but have won seven straight since. DeSoto's lone loss, by one point, came a couple weeks ago to Mansfield Summit (Arlington) by but bounced back nicely and beat South Grand Prairie (Texas) 41-26.

Two of the best programs in South Florida battle in the opening round of the 4A state playoffs. Don't let Carol City's 5-5 record fool you because the Chiefs have played one of the toughest schedules in Florida. The Tornadoes enter 8-2 with both losses coming against two of the top teams in the state — No. 14 IMG Academy (Bradenton) and Miami Central. This is the 12th meeting between the two since 2005 and Booker T. Washington has won nine of the previous 11, but the Chiefs have won the last two.

John Curtis Christian had its 21-game winning streak snapped last week in overtime against Archbishop Rummel (Metairie) and faces another big test this week against Brother Martin. The Crusaders lone loss this year also came against Rummel. The sixth meeting between the two since 2014, the Patriots have won four of the previous five, including three in a row.

The CIF Southern Section Division 2 bracket is wide open. Both these teams check in at 5-5 but don't be surprised if the winner makes a run for the section title.
