Chester is still undefeated this season after their game against Herrin on Friday, but Herrin came as close as anyone has to beating them. Chester came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against Herrin. That's more bragging rights for the Yellowjackets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lexie Mott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

On the hitting side, Marlie Caby was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Elaina Lutman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Chester's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Herrin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Chester wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-2 win against Shawnee on the 24th. As for Herrin, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-1 defeat against Mt. Vernon on the 25th.
