Meanwhile, Avon waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Trojans.

Avon pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Xavier, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-6.
