Baseball Game Preview: San Leandro Pirates vs. Northgate Broncos

The San Leandro Pirates will venture away from home to face off against the Northgate Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. San Leandro is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

While San Leandro's win against Hayward wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Farmers 3-2.

San Leandro saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lorenzo Charles, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Ben Mladanich also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Northgate won against Miramonte on Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Broncos came out on top against the Matadors by a score of 5-0. The win continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Matadors: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Christopher Flores, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Shane Malloy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Northgate hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miramonte struck out ten times.

San Leandro's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Northgate, their record is now 10-6.
