Baseball Game Preview: Midland Classical Academy Knights vs. Lubbock T Titans

The Midland Classical Academy Knights will take on the Lubbock T Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Midland Classical Academy has three straight victories, Lubbock T has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Midland Classical Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy.

Henry Friez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Midland Classical Academy: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 5-11 otherwise. Friez was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Kayson West was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Midland Classical Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Gilbert, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Midland Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy only posted an OBP of .176.

Meanwhile, Lubbock T came up short against Panhandle Christian Home Educators last Friday, falling 12-3.

Midland Classical Academy now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Lubbock T, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went Midland Classical Academy's way against Lubbock T in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Midland Classical Academy made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
