Baseball Game Preview: Sebastopol Bobcats vs. Philadelphia Tornadoes

Sebastopol has gone a perfect 4-0 against Philadelphia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Sebastopol Bobcats will be playing at home against the Philadelphia Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Sebastopol sitting on seven straight victories and Philadelphia on five.

While Sebastopol didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Choctaw Central by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Harrison Peebles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Sebastopol's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Noah Atkinson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Atkinson has posted since back in February. Another was Ike Strickland, who got no hits from his two at bats.

While Philadelphia didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Scott Central 8-2 last Thursday. Considering the Tornadoes have won four games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Sebastopol's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Philadelphia, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Sebastopol took their victory against Philadelphia in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4. Does Sebastopol have another victory up their sleeve, or will Philadelphia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
