Preview: LaVille Lancers vs. Wheeler Bearcats
LaVille has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Wheeler Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, everything went LaVille's way against Culver Community as LaVille made off with a 45-23 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory LaVille has posted against Culver Community since January 16, 2018.
LaVille found their leader in underclassman Ava Weil, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Smith, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Wheeler came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Whiting with points to spare, taking the game 55-41.
LaVille has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. As for Wheeler, their win bumped their record up to an identical 10-11.
LaVille took their victory against Wheeler in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 45-23. Does LaVille have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wheeler turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
