Baseball Recap: Vandalia Comes Up Short

Vandalia lost a heartbreaker to Southwestern when they met back in April of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Vandals took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Piasa Birds. The loss continues a trend for the Vandals in their meetings with the Piasa Birds: they've now lost seven in a row.

Vandalia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Lewis, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Vandalia's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Southwestern, their victory bumped their record up to 9-16.

Coming up, Vandalia will face off against Litchfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Purple Panthers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Southwestern, they will challenge North Greene at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
