Softball Recap: Clayton Valley Charter Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

After only two runs in their last contest, Clayton Valley Charter made sure to put some runs up on the board against Acalanes on Thursday. The Ugly Eagles put the hurt on the Dons with a sharp 10-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Ugly Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jazlene Shipe made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Camdyn Alton looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

Back at the plate, Anja Perreira and Izabella Holt did most of the damage at the plate: Perreira went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI, while Holt got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Perreira has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chloe Herico, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Clayton Valley Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Acalanes only posted a batting average of .125.

Clayton Valley Charter has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Acalanes, they dropped their record down to 9-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

As of now, neither Clayton Valley Charter nor the Dons have any future games scheduled.
