The Memphis Central Warriors will face off against the Germantown Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Memphis Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Memphis Central came up short against St. Benedict at Auburndale and fell 9-6.

Joshua Thurmon was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Thurmon was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Memphis Central: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
In other batting news, Orlando Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Germantown waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 19-9 margin over the Cougars. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Like Memphis Central, Germantown also got a great game from a two-way player: Bradyn Morris. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Morris has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Omar Castillo, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Auston Walker, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3.
Germantown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Memphis Central's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Germantown, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Memphis Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Germantown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Memphis Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Germantown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 14-10. Will Memphis Central repeat their success, or does Germantown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
