Basketball Game Preview: Ferndale Eagles vs. Avondale Yellowjackets

The Ferndale Eagles and the Avondale Yellowjackets will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Monday, Ferndale came up short against Clarkston and fell 55-48. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Wolves are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, Avondale hadn't done well against Adams recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Avondale managed a 54-50 victory over Adams. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Yellowjackets.

Avondale has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Ferndale, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Ferndale suffered a grim 72-48 defeat to Avondale when the teams last played back in January of 2015. Can Ferndale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
