Volleyball Recap: Ephrata Mountaineers vs. Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers
Ephrata was the 3-0 winner over Lampeter-Strasburg when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Ephrata Mountaineers fell just short of the Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Mountaineers just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.
Ephrata took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-22, 16-25, 25-19, 16-14.
Ephrata lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chloe Saylor, who had 25 digs and two aces. Saylor has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kierra Walters, who had 18 digs.
Ephrata's record now sits at 8-13-4. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ephrata will take on Manheim Township at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Manheim Township will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Ephrata surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, they will face off against Eastern Lebanon County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
