Basketball Recap: Austin Prep Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Ten Games

Austin Prep Academy dropped down to 20-5 on Thursday, ending the team's ten-game streak of wins. They lost 94-69 to the Heritage Coyotes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Avengers have suffered since November 24th.

As for Heritage, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The final result isn't all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Austin Prep Academy is ranked 181st).

Heritage had a senior duo take command as Cameron Lomax shot 76% from the field en route to 44 points and three steals and Bryson Howard shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double with 30 points and ten boards. Lomax is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last 28 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Zion Minja, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Austin Prep Academy and Varsity Opponent will compete for holiday cheer at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to challenge Guyer at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
