Softball Recap: South-Doyle Comes Up Short

South-Doyle lost against Heritage back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cherokees fell just short of the Mountaineers by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Cherokees have lost by just one run.

South-Doyle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gigi Komeshak, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Komeshak also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Natalie Smithers was another, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

South-Doyle now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

South-Doyle will be playing at home against West at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Heritage, they are taking a road trip to take on Bearden at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mountaineers are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
