Baseball Recap: Homestead Comes Up Short

Homestead blew Carroll out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Carroll got their revenge. The Spartans fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered since May 22, 2025.

Homestead got a good showing from Mason Gutmann, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Luke Haley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Homestead and nudges their season record down to 15-7. As for Carroll, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8.

While Homestead had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
