Baseball Recap: Chaparral Takes a Loss

Chaparral fell victim to Brighton and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the Brighton Bengals, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Firebirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ryan Penney was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Brighton, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Coming up, Chaparral will square off against Desert Edge at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brighton will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against East at 4:00 p.m. on March 25th. Brighton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
