Basketball Game Preview: Cumberland Gap Panthers vs. South-Doyle Cherokees

The Cumberland Gap Panthers will challenge the South-Doyle Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Cumberland Gap saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against West Greene, sneaking past 70-67. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Brady Harris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 11-for-18 to rack up 28 points and seven boards. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kolton Goins, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South-Doyle). They put the hurt on Campbell County with a sharp 71-48 win on Wednesday. The Cherokees have beaten the Cougars the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.

The victory got Cumberland Gap back to even at 2-2. As for South-Doyle, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
