Basketball Game Preview: Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs vs. Pittsford Panthers

The Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs will venture away from home to challenge the Pittsford Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pittsford will be up against a hot Our Lady of Mercy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Our Lady of Mercy was the clear victor by a 53-33 margin over Brighton on Tuesday. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Bruins are ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pittsford). They breezed by Batavia to the tune of 82-29 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Our Lady of Mercy pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Pittsford, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Our Lady of Mercy couldn't quite finish off Pittsford in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 and fell 48-45. Can Our Lady of Mercy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
