Baseball Recap: Foothill Sets Scoring Season-High Against Barlow

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Barlow Bruins a 17-0 shutout on Thursday. Give the Knights' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Foothill got a great performance from Brayden Bianchi as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Bianchi has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evrett Rycroft was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Seiji Horimachi also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Foothill has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Barlow's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Foothill will challenge Yucaipa at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Barlow, they will square off against Westview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
