Softball Recap: Pinnacle Wins High-Profile Contest Against O'connor

Pinnacle faced O'Connor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Pioneers were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Eagles. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Kodi Crabtree, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep O'Connor off the board. Crabtree has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Pinnacle got a massive performance out of Torynn Slaughter, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Bri Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Pinnacle is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for O'Connor, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-8.

Coming up, Pinnacle will square off against Mountain Ridge at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
