Softball Recap: Hardee Wildcats vs. Fort Meade Miners
Hardee extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 6-13. They lost 19-8 to the Fort Meade Miners. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Miners from their previous meeting back in February of 2025.
Marti Edenfield made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Mikayla Silva was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
As for Fort Meade, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Fort Meade's side, Gracie Taylor made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Taylor was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Cailynn Johnson and Ryleigh Grace did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Grace went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Grace a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenya Faulk, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hardee will venture away from home to square off against Bartow at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fort Meade, they will head out to challenge Lake Region at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
