Softball Game Preview: La Serna Lancers vs. Gahr Gladiators

La Serna hasn't had much luck against Gahr recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lancers will challenge the Gladiators at 3:15 p.m. La Serna's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Gahr's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

La Serna took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against California by a score of 7-2.

Karina Torres spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aubrie Baruch, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Elissa Guerrero was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Gahr unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They and Valley Christian finished up their game with a 2-2 draw.

Gahr also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Isabelle Gonzalez gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

La Serna is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. With that draw, Gahr's record moves to 10-10-3.

La Serna might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from Gahr in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
