Soccer Game Preview: Covina vs. Damien

The Covina Colts and the Damien Spartans will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covina's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Covina is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Sierra Vista just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. Neither they nor the Dons could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Colts' first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Damien was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They fell just short of Centennial by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 494th, while the Huskies are ranked 127th).

Damien's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4-2. Covina's draw makes their record 3-1-1 this season.
