Madison is 2-8 against Highland since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Bobcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Rams at 1:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Madison gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over Rigby. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.
Meanwhile, Highland had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Titans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since April 18th.
Mason Payne made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cannon Eddie, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Andrew Scott was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Highland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Highland's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Madison, their record now sits at 18-9.
Madison came out on top in a nail-biter against Highland in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
