Basketball Recap: Nederland Comes Up Short

Nederland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 67-39 loss at the hands of the Beaumont United Timberwolves. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 69th).

Beaumont United was led to victory by Ashton Green and Ephriam Moore. Green posted 15 points along with five boards and five steals, while Moore went 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. Moore's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jeremy ?King? Campbell, who scored six points and three steals.

Nederland's defeat dropped their record down to 19-12. As for Beaumont United, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 22-9.

Looking ahead, Nederland will take on Port Neches-Groves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beaumont United, they will challenge West Brook at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beaumont United is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
