Soccer Game Preview: Belleview vs. Lake Weir

Belleview and Lake Weir are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but likely not for long. The Belleview Rattlers will challenge the Lake Weir Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Belleview's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Belleview is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Redeemer Christian on Monday. Belleview fell just short of Redeemer Christian by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Lake Weir entered their match against Vanguard on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Lake Weir came up short against Vanguard, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Knights are ranked 140th).

This is the second loss in a row for Lake Weir and nudges their season record down to 2-2-1. As for Belleview, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6-1.

Belleview skirted past Lake Weir 1-0 in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Belleview since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
