Softball Recap: Provo Comes Up Short

Provo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Mountain View Bruins, falling 22-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-2 back in March.

Tava'Esina Albert and Ella Abrams did some serious damage despite the final result: Albert went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI, while Abrams went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. With that strong performance, Albert is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Addison Hovik, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Provo's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Mountain View, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Provo will venture away from home to face off against Timpanogos at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Timberwolves have averaged an impressive 11.7 runs per game this season. As for Mountain View, they will head out to challenge Orem at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
