Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Gulf Breeze

On Thursday, the Gulf Breeze Dolphins earned a 5-2 win over the Daphne Trojans. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dolphins.

Ky Cook tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Gulf Breeze let Jake Hooten and Kade Rollins run wild. Hooten got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, while Rollins went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. The dominant performance gave Rollins a new career-high in runs.

Gulf Breeze pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Daphne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Gulf Breeze will venture away from home to take on Baker at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gulf Breeze's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Baker's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Daphne, they will host Niceville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Niceville will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Daphne surely won't give up without a fight.
