Basketball Game Preview: Washington County Panthers vs. North East Carolina Prep Husky

The Washington County Panthers will take on the North East Carolina Prep Husky in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington County will be strutting in after a win while North East Carolina Prep will be coming in after a loss.

Washington County took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 63-43 margin over Pasquotank County.

Washington County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ke'Myia Young, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists. Those 11 assists gave Young a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Carter, who went 10 for 18 on her way to 22 points and three steals.

Washington County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, North East Carolina Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by Southside 56-13.

Washington County pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for North East Carolina Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
