Softball Recap: Sebastian River Wins Going Away Against Heritage

With a playoff win on the line, Sebastian River rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Heritage Panthers 12-2. The win continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.

Kiera Carow made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since April 1st. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Gutermuth, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Layla McKinney, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Sebastian River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Sebastian River's victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 5-16.
