Recap: Eureka Hornets vs. Prairie Central Hawks

The Eureka Hornets lost against the Prairie Central Hawks back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Eureka received a tough blow as they fell 57-41 to Prairie Central. While losing is never fun, Eureka can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 409th, while Prairie Central is ranked 198th).

Prairie Central had a senior duo take command as Levi Goad scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals and Talen Steidinger scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Steidinger scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Steidinger, who scored four points along with five rebounds.

Eureka has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season. As for Prairie Central, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-11.

Eureka will take on Lexington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Prairie Central, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-58 defeat vs. Beecher on the 10th.
