Basketball Recap: McKinney Boyd Takes a Loss

McKinney Boyd lost against Allen back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The McKinney Boyd Broncos were beaten by the Allen Eagles 87-60. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Eagles are ranked first).

Allen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nehemiah Lawrence, who went 6 for 8 en route to 18 points and six assists. Lawrence is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Antoine Shannon, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 18 points and six boards.

This is the second loss in a row for McKinney Boyd and nudges their season record down to 13-17. As for Allen, the win was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKinney Boyd will welcome Princeton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McKinney Boyd is facing Princeton at the right time seeing as Princeton is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Allen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Plano East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Allen is on a 11-game streak of home wins, Plano East a 12-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
