Basketball Recap: St. Stephen's Episcopal Falls Despite Big Games from Kennedy Lartigue and Donnica Armstrong

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Stephen's Episcopal can now relate to. They received a blow on Thursday as they fell 59-42 to the Houston Christian Mustangs. The Spartans have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

St. Stephen's Episcopal's loss came despite strong showings from Donnica Armstrong and Kennedy Lartigue. Armstrong posted eight points along with six boards and five assists, while Lartigue scored 12 points and three steals. Lartigue is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Eleanor Evarts, who put up four points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, St. Stephen's Episcopal smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 29 consecutive games dating back to last season.

St. Stephen's Episcopal's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Houston Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.
