Softball Game Preview: Carlisle Thundering Herd vs. Palmyra Cougars

The Carlisle Thundering Herd are taking a road trip to take on the Palmyra Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Carlisle has three straight wins, Palmyra has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Carlisle's victory against Red Land wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Thundering Herd narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Patriots 8-6.

Meanwhile, Palmyra came up short against Bishop McDevitt on Tuesday, falling 10-4.

Palmyra saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Morrison, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Carlisle pushed their record up to 9-1-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Palmyra, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Everything went Carlisle's way against Palmyra when the teams last played back in March, as Carlisle made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thundering Herd since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
