Baseball Recap: Summit Takes a Loss

Glenwood Springs hit Summit with a ten-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers took an 18-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Demons. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Demons earlier this season, when they won 8-3.

Sam Eldredge and Hogan Tobias stepped up to the plate in a big way. Eldredge went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Tobias went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Tobias is becoming a predictor of Summit's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Jagger Roberts was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Summit's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Glenwood Springs, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.

Coincidentally, Summit and Glenwood Springs will both be playing Eagle Valley the next time they take the field. The Tigers will head out to face the Devils at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Demons will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on May 9.
