Basketball Recap: Jefferson Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Jefferson Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 61-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bland County Bears. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Jefferson Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Solomon Shirey went 9-for-20 on his way to 27 points and six boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shirey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Oliver Balai, who posted four points along with 12 assists and three steals.

Even though they lost, Jefferson Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Jefferson Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Bland County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Jefferson Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-55 win against Auburn Baptist Christian Academy on the 3rd. As for Bland County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-57 victory against Giles on the 4th.
