Football Recap: Cedar Grove Skates Past Newark Collegiate Academy with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cedar Grove). They took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 48-12 win over Newark Collegiate Academy. The victory continues a trend for Cedar Grove in their matchups with Newark Collegiate Academy: they've now won seven in a row.

Leading Cedar Grove to victory were Pierce Asfalg and Jerry Targia. Asfalg threw for 198 yards and one TD on perfect 6-for-6 passing, while Targia gained 112 total yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Asfalg a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). George Dakar was in the mix too, providing Cedar Grove with one touchdown.

Cedar Grove's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Newark Collegiate Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Cedar Grove will take on Caldwell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Newark Collegiate Academy, they will face off against Glen Ridge at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
