Softball Game Preview: Enumclaw Hornets vs. Decatur Golden Gators

The Enumclaw Hornets will face off against the Decatur Golden Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Enumclaw comes in on five and Decatur on three.

Last Monday, Enumclaw earned a 6-1 win over Kentlake.

Meanwhile, Decatur was able to grind out a solid victory over Jefferson on Wednesday, taking the game 12-8.

Luci Pech was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Sam Hackney also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Decatur's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Enumclaw, their record is now 7-2.

Enumclaw came up short against Decatur in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
