Volleyball Recap: Amelia Colon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Land O' Lakes over Tampa Prep + How To Watch

After flying high against Fivay on Tuesday, Land O' Lakes came back down to earth. The Gators lost 3-0 to the Tampa Prep Terrapins on Thursday. If the Gators were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Terrapins when the teams met back in September of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Land O' Lakes took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-16, 25-21.

Land O' Lakes lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Amelia Colon, who had 16 digs and one assist. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 22 times she's played.

Tampa Prep found their leader in sophomore Sophia Merenda, who had seven digs and five aces.

Land O' Lakes' record now sits at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Land O' Lakes will challenge Sunlake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Gators' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Tampa Prep, they will take on Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
