Basketball Recap: Sapulpa Comes Up Short

Sapulpa was the 72-58 winner over Riverside Indian when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Sapulpa Chieftains lost to the Riverside Indian Braves on the road by a 63-45 margin on Saturday.

When it comes to explaining why Sapulpa lost, don't look at Riki McQuarters. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave McQuarters a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wrigley Adkisson, who had six points.

Sapulpa has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Riverside Indian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sapulpa and Bartlesville will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Riverside Indian, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Frontier at 6:30 p.m. on January 17, 2025.
