Basketball Game Preview: Chiles Timberwolves vs. Calhoun City Wildcats

Having just played yesterday, the Chiles Timberwolves will jump right back in to play the Calhoun City Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Chiles is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.7 points per game this season.

Chiles will head out to face Calhoun City after giving up their first home loss of the season on Friday. Chiles was beaten by Ravenwood 81-54. The Timberwolves' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Chiles had strong showings from Gabe Parks, who went 7 of 17 en route to 18 points and eight rebounds, and Isaiah Bundrage, who posted 14 points and six assists. Those eight rebounds gave Parks a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Medina, who put up eight points.

Meanwhile, Calhoun City won against Okolona last Thursday with 68 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Calhoun City came out on top against J.Z. George by a score of 68-56. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Jaguars are ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Calhoun City's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Chiles, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-6.
