Basketball Recap: Jared Raymond's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wellington-Napoleon over Lafayette County

Wellington-Napoleon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Lafayette County Huskers at home by a 72-53 margin. The Tigers lost against the Huskers in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 79-36 score last time.

Wellington-Napoleon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jared Raymond, who posted 14 points. Those 14 points gave Raymond a new career-high. Trey Simsheuser was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Wellington-Napoleon's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Lafayette County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Wellington-Napoleon has already played their next matchup (against Leeton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lafayette County has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Holden.
