Baseball Recap: Watertown Takes a Loss

Watertown extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-9 in the process. They came up short against the Arlington Spy Ponders, falling 14-0. Raiders fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Spy Ponders since on Thursday.

As for Arlington, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Arlington's part, Will Sadowski was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Sadowski also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Arlington is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Sadowski was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jack Sadowski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dennis Kenneally, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watertown will take on Burlington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arlington, they will venture away from home to challenge Winchester at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
