Basketball Recap: Augusta Prep Day Comes Up Short

Augusta Prep Day lost against Edmund Burke Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers had to suffer through a 49-22 loss at the hands of the Edmund Burke Academy Spartans. The Cavaliers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-2.

It was another big night for Leila Eastmead, who posted 15 points and four steals for Edmund Burke Academy. Eastmead is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Palmer, who had eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Augusta Prep Day dropped their record down to 1-13 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Edmund Burke Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

When Augusta Prep Day and Edmund Burke Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Augusta Prep Day will try to stop Westminster Schools of Augusta's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Edmund Burke Academy will try to stop Briarwood Academy's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
