Baseball Game Preview: Xaverian Clippers vs. St. John's Prep Red Storm

The Xaverian Clippers will venture away from home to face off against the St. John's Prep Red Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Xaverian came up short against Archbishop Molloy on Wednesday, falling 8-1. The game marked the Clippers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Xaverian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danny Cronin, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, St. John's Prep posted their closest win since April 1, 2024 on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Holy Cross 2-1. The Red Storm haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Xaverian's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.75 runs. As for St. John's Prep, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Xaverian took their victory against St. John's Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 16-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Clippers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
