Volleyball Recap: Randolph-Macon Academy Gets the Win

Randolph-Macon Academy proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Foxcroft. Surprisingly, this marked the Yellow Jackets' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Randolph-Macon Academy who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-11, 23-25, 25-18, 18-25, 15-8.

Despite the loss, Foxcroft saw an underclassman step up: sophomore J.J. Taylor had 11 digs. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Taylor. Lucy Pachas also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Randolph-Macon Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Foxcroft, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Coming up, Randolph-Macon Academy will take on Highland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Yellow Jackets surely won't give up without a fight. Foxcroft has already played their next match (against Wakefield School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
